Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 2026 British Silver Britannia Coin displays King Charles III in left-profile relief, shown without a crown. This design marks the first official British coin portrait of King Charles III, introduced in late 2022 and created by artist Martin Jennings.
The reverse showcases the image of Britannia, a design created in 1987 by artist Philip Nathan. Britannia is depicted in a dignified stance, dressed in flowing robes and wearing a Corinthian helmet. She holds a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, resting atop a shield bearing the Union Jack design. Security features are incorporated into the reverse design.
The Silver Britannia series has been produced annually by The Royal Mint since 1997, following the Gold Britannia coin program that debuted a decade earlier in 1987. The Britannia figure itself has a long numismatic history, with the earliest known depiction appearing on bronze sestertii issued by Roman Emperor Hadrian around 119–122 CE to commemorate his visit to the British province. That early iconography helped establish Britannia as an enduring symbol of Britain that continues on coinage today.
These 2026 1 oz British Silver Britannia Coins are struck in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, making them a fitting choice for silver investors and collectors of the Britannia series alike.
