The sugar maple leaf has long symbolized Canadian heritage, and its meaning has grown over the years to reflect the nation’s values on the global stage. It represents Canada’s commitment to peacekeeping, multiculturalism, and environmental stewardship, serving as a unifying emblem for citizens across regions and languages.
All 2025 1/4 oz Gold Maple Leaf coins offered here are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Single coins come in protective plastic flips, while sets of 20 are sealed in a plastic sheet. The series originally began with the 1 oz coin in 1979, and the first fractional coins, including the 1/4 oz, were added in November 1982.
The obverse of the 2025 coin features a left-profile portrait of King Charles III, designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati in 2024. The depiction shows the king without a crown, marking only the second monarch featured in the series after Queen Elizabeth II.
On the reverse, the classic sugar maple leaf design remains. Created by Walter Ott in 1979, this detailed depiction captures the natural features of the leaf and continues to serve as a hallmark of the Maple Leaf series on all fractional and 1 oz coins.
