The obverse of the 2025 1/2 oz Gold Philharmonic depicts the Great Pipe Organ inside the Golden Concert Hall of the Musikverein, Austria’s premier music venue. This current organ, installed in 2011, replaced the previous instrument that had been in use since 1907.
On the reverse, the coin displays an array of musical instruments as a tribute to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. A cello sits at the center, flanked by violins in the foreground, with a French horn, bassoon, and harp in the background.
Inspired by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, these coins celebrate Austria’s rich musical heritage. Over the years, the orchestra has combined tradition with modern evolution, including opening membership to women in 1997.
These 2025 1/2 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins are offered individually in protective plastic flips or in multiples of 10 in acrylic tubes. Each coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Although the Philharmonic series debuted in 1989, the 1/2 oz gold coin was first issued in 1994.
