2025 1 oz British Silver Britannia Coin

The British Britannia coin series is one of two major bullion collections available each year from The Royal Mint. The Britannia Series debuted in 1987 and, as of 2025, features gold, silver, and platinum coins on an annual basis in a variety of weights. One of the stalwarts of the series is the 1 oz silver coin. Each 2025 1 oz British Silver Britannia Coin is available either in bulk or individual packaging. Individual coins come with a plastic flip. Multiples arrive in plastic tubes of 25 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins, with 20 tubes per Monster Box. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

Though Britannia’s image arose during the rule of the Roman Empire in Britain, she remained as a prominent figure in the British Isles. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Britannia faded from prominence for several centuries. She was revived during the reign of Elizabeth I in the 16th century as a symbol of naval power and national identity. This revival coincided with the expansion of British maritime influence and the beginnings of its colonial empire.

The obverse of the 2025 British Silver Britannia comes with a portrait of King Charles III. His Majesty is featured here in left-profile relief and is depicted without a crown. Martin Jennings designed this effigy of Charles III in late 2022 and it was first featured in mid-2023 on British Britannia coins.

On the reverse of 2025 1 oz Silver Britannia Coins is a modern rendition of Britannia. Designed in 1987 by Philip Nathan, this design shows the full-length figure of Britannia with a Corinthian helmet, a trident, and a shield with the Union Jack emblem. This side now features several security features that include a textured, wave pattern in the background, a latent security element, micro-text, and tincture lines on the Union Jack.
