On the obverse of 2025 American Gold Eagles, you will find the historic image of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this visual shows Liberty’s full-length figure in front-facing relief. The design includes a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background includes a ring of stars, sunrays, and the U.S. Capitol.

The reverse comes with a new design introduced in July 2021. Created by Jennie Norris, this image shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief. The image delivers an impressive level of detail in the eagle’s piercing gaze and its elegant plumage.

The United States Mint strikes two different gold bullion coins on an annual basis. The Gold Eagle is the older of the two and features 22-karat gold, compared to the somewhat newer Gold Buffalo, a 24-karat gold coin. Gold Eagle coins have a composition of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
