The obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle showcases Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ historic Lady Liberty design, created in 1907. The full-length figure of Liberty appears in front-facing relief, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background features the U.S. Capitol, sunrays, and a ring of stars.
The reverse design was updated in July 2021 by Jennie Norris. It features the head of the American bald eagle in left-profile relief, highlighting remarkable detail in its gaze and plumage, offering a striking modern interpretation while maintaining the coin’s classic character.
The United States Mint annually issues two gold bullion coins. The Gold Eagle, first introduced in 1986, is composed of 91.67% gold (22-karat), 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
