Blog Jan 20, 2012

The US mint has recorded an increase of 21.57% in the Gold Bullion Coin program revenue from figures reported in the previous year. The revenue collected in the bullion program for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2011 is calculated at $3.47 billion. The revenue reached this record high due to silver bullion coins which compensated for the decline in revenue of the US gold mint bullion coins.

The US Mint issues and manufactures bullion coins through an elaborate network of authorized purchasers. The current US bullion programs include American Silver Eagles, American Gold Eagles, America the Beautiful Silver coins and American Gold Buffalo coins. The purity, weight and content of these coins are guaranteed by the US government.

These US minted coins are only sold to authorized purchasers, that too in bulk quantities on the metal’s market price, along with a premium. This is done because it is felt that authorized purchasers will be able to distribute the coins in a more broad fashion to the public along with maintaining a two-way market for these US minted coins.

One of the most famous US gold mint coin is the American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins.
