Eat Gold? Why Not, The Rich Do.
Surely you have heard the words before, “You can’t eat gold.†Ironically, those words are always spoken by a mouth that can eat gold. Take a moment and let the irony truly sink in. You will know it has when you begin to smile, and yes, be sure to remember that the next time you hear the tired quip.The truth is you can eat gold. You can go out right now and eat gold, and do so exquisitely.
If you have not guessed, this blog article about the act of being able to imbibe gold is a bit tongue in cheek, or golden tongue in golden cheek if you will. The human body is completely capable of eating gold. I can eat gold, you can eat gold, and since gold is soft, old Gramps without teeth can have gold too. But you, me and Gramps cannot digest gold.
Pure gold, and by the way if you are going to imbibe gold, eat pure gold, it is non reactive. Pure gold does not like to combine with other elements, does not often chemically react, and cannot be broken down into simpler components. Hence, the human body does not digest gold, and gold does not seem to interfere with normal human digestion.
This being said, lets look at some ways to indulge and use gold in food:
Eat Gold And Chocolate – A Perfect Pairing
Pairing gold and chocolate is nothing new, really. Chocolatiers have been doing so for centuries, almost as long as people have been known to use gold in foods. A chocolatier is a person who works specifically with chocolate as an elegant luxury sweet for the palate. Perhaps because people can swallow gold without harm, and because rich people like gold and chocolate and can afford chocolatiers, gold and chocolate just seem to go together.
If you have a creative culinary streak, and you have some extra cash, you too can dream up and plate exotic combinations for your dinner guests, and wow them with your “Have Gold For Dessert†course. It’s actually pretty simple if you know how to cheat to prepare culinary gold.
Edible gold is available in many forms such as gold leaf, gold bubbles, gold sprinkle, gold powder, gold dust, etc. There are perhaps limitless combinations of ways to eat gold and chocolate together. Here is an idea if you may be going camping with the Vanderbilt’s or DuPont’s later this summer:

A few gold flakes in a champagne flute will actually dance for quite some time. The bubbles in the champagne attach themselves to the gold flakes and carry them to the top of the glass. The bubbles then pop and the gold flake falls back to the bottom of the glass where tiny champagne bubbles attach again, and the mesmerizingly beautiful little process begins anew.
