ITM Trading Presents: Movies Featuring Gold

Here are a few of our all time favorite gold movies in no particular order.

Goldfinger (1964)
Cast members include: Sean Connery as James Bond, Honor Blackman as “Miss Galore” and Gert Fröbe as Auric Goldfinger.

Bond is back and his next mission takes him to Fort Knox, where Auric Goldfinger and his henchman are planning to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. To save the world once again, Bond will need to become friends with Goldfinger, dodge killer hats

Kelly’s Heroes (1970)
Cast members include: Clint Eastwood as Private Kelly, Telly Savalas as Master Sergeant “Big Joe”, Don Rickles as Staff Sergeant “Crapgame”, Carroll O’Connor as Major General Colt, Donald Sutherland as Sergeant “Oddball”.

During World War II a German Colonel is captured by the Americans but before he can be interrogated an artillery barrage hits the camp. However, Ex-Lieutenant Kelly manages to reach the Colonel, get him drunk and learn that he is on a secret mission to ship $16,000,000 of gold to a base in France. Kelly is determined to get the gold and plans for himself and a few of his fellow soldiers to slip into enemy territory and steal the bullion.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)
Cast members include: Bruce Willis as Lieutenant John McClane,Jeremy Irons as Simon Peter Gruber and Samuel L. Jackson as Zeus Carver.

John McClane must join forces with a Harlem shop owner to prevent Simon, brother of the late Hans Gruber and serial bomber, from stealing billions of dollars worth of gold from the Federal Reserve Building in New York City.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
Cast members include: Humphrey Bogart as Fred C. Dobbs, Walter Huston as Howard, Tim Holt as Bob Curtin and Bruce Bennett as James Cody.

Fred C. Dobbs and Bob Curtin, both down on their luck in Tampico, Mexico in 1925, meet up with a grizzled prospector named Howard and decide to join with him in search of gold in the wilds of central Mexico. Through enormous difficulties, they eventually succeed in finding gold, but bandits, the elements, and most especially greed threaten to turn their success into disaster

The Italian Job (2003)
Cast members include: Mark Wahlberg as Charlie Croker, Charlize Theron as Stella Bridger, Edward Norton as Steve and Donald Sutherland as John Bridger.

Led by John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) and Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg) a team is assembled for one last heist to steal $35 million in gold bars from a heavily guarded safe in Venice, Italy. After successfully pulling off the heist, a team member, Steve (Edward Norton), driven by greed and jealousy, arranges to take the gold for himself and eliminate the remaining members of the group. Thinking the team dead, he returns to L.A. with the gold. Charlie and the survivors of this betrayal follow Steve L.A. to exact revenge against the traitor. Charlie enlists the help of John Bridger’s daughter, Stella (Charlize Theron) – a professional safe cracker, to get revenge. With Stella and the hacking skills of Lyle (Seth Green), the explosives skills of “Left Ear” (Mos Def), and the driving skills of “Handsome” Rob (Jason Statham) this new team plans and executes a daring heist that weaves through the freeways and subways of L.A. City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold (1994)
Cast members include: Billy Crystal as Mitch Robbins, Daniel Stern as Phil Berquist, Jon Lovitz as Glenn Robbins, Jack Palance as Duke Washburn.

It is the 40th birthday of Mitch Robbins and the day begins quite good until he returns home (after a hard day at the radio station) and finds his brother Glen, the black sheep of the family, in his sofa. Nevertheless he is about to have a wonderful birthday-night with his wife when he discovers a treasure map of Curly by chance. Together with Phil (from the first part) and unfortunately with Glen he tries to find the hidden gold of Curly’s father in the desert of Arizona instead of attending a meeting in Las Vegas. The adventurous journey reveals many surprises until everything seems to be over when the map gets lost

The Gold Rush (1925)
Cast members include: Charlie Chaplin as The Tramp, Georgia Hale as Georgia and Mack Swain as Big Jim McKay

It is in the middle of the Gold Rush. A Lone Prospector (Charlie Chaplin) searches the tundra for gold.

Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)

Cast members include: Mike Myers as Austin Powers / Goldmember / Dr. Evil / Fat Bastard, Beyoncé Knowles as Foxxy Cleopatra, Michael Caine as Nigel Powers.

Teaming up with the mysterious yet peculiar Goldmember, Dr. Evil hatches a time-traveling scheme to take over the world, one that involves the kidnapping of Nigel Powers, Austin’s beloved father and England’s most renowned spy. As he chases the villains through time, Austin visits 1975 and joins forces with his old flame, Foxxy Cleopatra

Three Kings (1999)
Cast members include: George Clooney as Major Archie Gates, Mark Wahlberg as Sergeant First Class Troy Barlow, Ice Cube as Staff Sergeant Chief Elgin and Spike Jonze as Private First Class Conrad Vig.

A small group of adventurous American soldiers in Iraq at the end of the Gulf War are determined to steal a huge cache of gold reputed to be hidden somewhere near their desert base. Finding a map they believe will take them to the gold, they embark on a journey that leads to unexpected discoveries, enabling them to rise to a heroic challenge that drastically changes their lives.

The War Wagon (1967)
Cast members include: John Wayne as Taw Jackson, Kirk Douglas as Lomax, Howard Keel as Levi Walking Bear and Robert Walker, Jr. as Billy Hyatt.

Taw Jackson returns from prison having survived being shot, to the ranch and gold that Frank Pierce stole from him. Jackson makes a deal with Lomax, the man who shot him 5 years ago to join forces against Pierce and steal a large gold shipment. The shipments are transported in the War Wagon, an armored stage coach that is heavily guarded. The two of them become the key players in the caper to separate Pierce from Jackson’s gold.
