4 Best Buy Gold Coins for Investment Purpose
Four Best Buy Gold Coins
As reported by NewsTalk on April 18, 2011, a special edition of €20 gold coin has been issued by the central bank of Dublin. Mike Kelly, the coin collector and trader, claims that this new €20 gold coin will be highly sought after by investors and even those who wish to buy gold coins for hobby purpose. The main feature of this coin is that it is one of the smallest coins in the world with a diameter measuring around 11 millimeters. The coin weighs half a gram only and therefore its price is kept at €40. It was designed by Thomas Ryan who also holds the credit of designing the one pound gold coin in 1990. The government has decided the issue limit of this beautiful gold piece at 12,000 units. It comes in a presentation case with an authenticity certificate and is available for purchase from the Central Bank on Dame Street in Dublin.
Gold buyers often seek to buy gold coins that have some rarity value attached to it. To the delight of such buyers, 80 gold coins minted between 1854 and 1913 would be on auction in Bloomsbury sometimes in 2011. These coins were found in a Stoke Newington back garden in 2010 and are supposed to be returned to the descendants of a German refuge. The coins will be auctioned by Spink auctioneers of Bloomsbury and hope to fetch between £80,000 and £90,000. A single $20 ‘Double-Eagle’ coin has been donated from this hoard to the Hackney Museum.
Buy Gold Coins: Best Gold Coins to Buy
It is generally difficult to decide what coins you should really go after. There are hundreds of gold coins in the world and most of them are highly sought after. Here is a list of the four most prized and sought after gold coins as suggested by market experts:
- Liberty Double Eagle: Known as the King of American Coins, Liberty Double Eagle is one of its own kinds. Designed by James Longacre, the coin depicts the classical representation of Lady Liberty on its obverse and a flying eagle on reverse. This coin came to be minted following the Californian Gold Rush in 1846. It happened so that the then government thought of issuing a coin with larger denomination to ease the financial transactions. So, this coin was issued with $20 denomination and subsequently came to be recognized as the most circulated coin of that time. This coin remained in circulation till 1907 as it was replaced by Saint Gaudens Double Eagle series.
- Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle: Designed by the famous designer Saint Augustus Gaudens, this coin assumes a very high place in the hearts of coin collectors. Serious investors consider this coin to be the greatest gold coin ever issued. This coin is a true reflection of old Greek art and holds a distinction over other coins due to its superb layout and classical design.
- Indian Head Eagle: This coin was originally issued in 1907. Laid with $10 denomination, this is a superb piece of craftsmanship and earns the right to be on every collectors list.
- Liberty Head Eagle: Liberty Head Eagle is an official gold bullion coin of the United States. Authorized under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, it was first released by the United States Mint in 1986. Often known as the Coronet Eagles, these coins were issued as part of American life for over 75 years. By virtue of their extreme scarcity, these coins are hard to find and are often priced at no less than $10,000 in any auction.
Gold is generally considered as a real asset, one that can be held in tough economic times. The value of this metal fluctuates, no doubt, like other commodities; but will never fall to zero due to the fact it is used worldwide in industry and as a safe haven asset.
We believe that everyone deserves a properly developed strategy for financial safety.
