1.    Canadian Gold Maple Leaf: These coins are produced at the Royal Gold Mint from the gold mined in Canada. These are popular because they are made of gold purity of 99.99%. This coin was first minted in 1979. They are available in denominations of 1/20, 1/10, ¼, ½ and 1 oz. In 2007, a deluxe version of this coin was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, which weighed 100kg and had a face value $1 million.

2.    American Gold Eagle: This gold coin is produced by the US Mint from gold mined within the United States. This official bullion gold coin of the United States has a composition of 91.67% gold, 3% silver and 5.33% copper. Since it contains an alloy of copper and silver, the wear and tear of this coin is reduced to a great extent. These coins are available in denominations of 1/10, ¼, ½ and 1 oz.

3.    South African Krugerrand: These gold coins are made by the South African Mint.  These coins were minted for the first time in 1967.  They are composed of 91.67% gold and 8.33% copper. They weigh 99.93 grams, with a diameter of 32.6 mm and thickness of 2.84 mm. They are available in denominations of 1/10, ¼, ½ and 1 oz. A proof version of these coins is also available for coin collectors.

4.    Britannia: These are Britain’s official bullion coins, produced by its Royal Mint. They were introduced in 1987. The composition of these coins is 91.7% fine gold, with the rest being silver or copper. These coins are available in denominations of 1/10, ¼, ½ and 1 oz, which are issued in face values of £10, £25, £50 and £100.

5.    Chinese Gold Panda: These gold coins are minted by the People’s Republic of China. They were first minted in 1982. They are made up of 99.9% fine gold. They are available in denominations from 1/20 to 1 troy ounce. The proof versions of these gold coins are available for collectors.

The above mentioned coins are considered good from both the buyer and collector’s point of view. They are famous not only because they are official bullion coins of their respective countries but also because they are beautiful designs and contain good composition of fine gold which affects the prices of gold bullion coins.
